When Jodi contacted me to see if I would be able to do a family session for FIFTEEN people, I was stoked! I've done a few different large family sessions before and even though they can be challenging (considering the number of people involved and getting everyone to look and have open eyes), I actually love them!!

I love the challenge of positioning everyone and taking into consideration the families within the larger family as well as levels, colors and ages. I say the more the merrier! When Jodi told me they would like to do the photos on their property, I was even more excited! They have some fantastic areas right on their property for some great backgrounds and light.

It was a pleasure capturing these moments for this large, friendly family who were all together again for a short time in May. Thank you for letting me share in your time!

Wind.

The wind on this Sunday was crazy. All day.

I was seriously wondering if we would be able to pull off this family session. After all, who wants family pictures with their hair flying all around and squinty eyes trying to keep the dust out? No one, that's who.

Our session, however was at the Bachichi open space and there is a decent grove of trees so I thought that it might work out if we went into the trees to try and avoid the wind.

The result is one of my absolute favorite sessions to date. The light was perfect. The kids were a RIOT. I am serious, they were so much fun and kept me laughing the whole session. They were all gorgeous and knew how to work a camera. And the wind stayed mostly behind the trees and allowed us to have calm hair and open eyes and big smiles all around.

The Riordans are a very special family and I am so honored to have been able to provide them these images.
