Seattle: The Ferry

The ferry is one of my absolute favorite things in Seattle. Growing up in Albuquerque, (with the closest water more than 50+ miles away) driving your car on to a huge boat in order to get somewhere else was completely foreign to me. It still amazes me to this day to see how many cars actually fit on these ferries that travel back and forth in the Puget Sound every single day.

During my time in Seattle, I had a friend who lived across the Sound, so catching the ferry to get to her house was pretty common for me. I love the entire process. Anxiously wondering if you will arrive on time, waiting in the line and watching people scramble back to their cars once they realize the loading process is about to start, having the ferry workers direct the cars onto the boat and hearing the loud thump as your car goes over the ramp and onto the boat, and then seeing the sights and views during the 30-60 min ride across the water.

Paul and I took the ferry over to Bainbridge during our trip and I decided to commemorate the moment with some snaps. The one at the bottom of him and the stairs is one of my favorite pictures from the whole trip.
