Baby Girl Gage // Lifestyle Newborn

I don't fancy myself a newborn photographer. I think you have to have a real passion for babies (AND PROPS) to be a really successful newborn photographer. Honestly, babies kind of scare me and I feel the way about props that I do about scrapbooking (there are just TOO MANY options!!!)

But I love families. And capturing the family dynamic a few days after that new one arrives is special and something that I am glad I have been able to do for very special clients in the past.

The Gages are a family that I consider very special. This is the fourth time I have had the pleasure of documenting memories for them and their maternity sessions is still one of my favorite sessions to date. Mama Natalie is a kindred spirit to me even though she may not know it. She shares my introverted tendencies and the thought of having a girl was a little intimidating for her (I have always wanted to have only boys, baby girls scare the heck out of me!). Daddy Gage is an amazing man and father with a huge heart for youth. Brother Tyler is curious and energetic and he likes to CLEAN! Love it.

Little girl Adelyn is one lucky gal. She has joined an amazing family and I can't wait to see how she and this family grows. They are also leaving Ridgecrest this summer but I know we will stay in touch because, well, thats just what good friends do. Love you guys! Welcome Adelyn!

Sansom // Ridgecrest Maternity

This post took me a while to get the nerve up to write. The beauty and majesty of God's timing is often lost on me but not this time. The Sansom family was the FIRST family ever to step in front of my lens. And little Miss Mairin was where little brother Jack is now, right in mommys tummy.

Caitlin and AJ trusted me back then and they have continued to trust me throughout these past two years. They have been in front of my lens at least 7 times including their family and AJ's extended family. The parallels of my growth as a photographer along with their growth as a family is something that really hit me when we met up for their session. They were the first family I photographed in Ridgecrest and they will also be the last. The timing of it all is so bittersweet.

Our friendship has also grown over these past two years. From the weekly game nights, small group discussions, birthday parties, volunteering, moving and dinners, we have witnessed each others lives grow and change and blossom. I am sooooo going to miss walking into their house and have Mairin scream, "PWOLE!!! SY-MIN!!!" with a huge smile on her face. I have loved watching that little girl grow up and I can't wait to see baby Jack and all of the amazingness that these amazing people will encounter in the future. We may both be moving out of Ridgecrest, but location aside, the Sansom family will always be a part of our family as well. Love you guys!
